Meet Jo the Founder

Jo-Anne Elliott, comes from a health background, much of her career she was a nurse. With this knowledge and experience Jo has a real understanding of how food can affect your body and effective tools to help you lose weight.

Anavah has been a vision for Jo for some time now.

Jo was living her very busy life, as a mother of 4, a wife to a shift working husband and had a part-time nursing career, she basically lost herself in everyone else’s life

“Mothering is a little like a cyclone. From the minute you are pregnant life picks up pace, you give everything to it and then after they finish school you are spat out of the funnel with a thud!

When children leave the nest, your body isn’t as you remember, your dreams are forgotten,

You wonder “who am I now”

During this process of motherhood Jo’s health began to decline as her weight began to creep on.

Jo experienced her waistline growing and all the old methods of shedding weight were not working. Add to this a very unhappy gut. Despite tests and special diets there was no explanation for her bloating and discomfort.

JO’s mindset was suffering also as she neglected herself, throwing her energy into her family and friends.

“I was on a spiral of losing my identity, purpose and health.”

As Jo found tools to reconnect with her true self and improve her health, she realised many other mothers were travelling this path.

Jo has a desire to equip them, before reaching their wits end!

The retreats came from the idea that mothers need time out to just stop and think. Many retreats are expensive and involve giving up wine, caffeine and fun! Jo wanted a fun, pampering, yet practical retreat with like-minded mothers.

Jo’s meal plans and health system are what worked for her and continues to today. A combination of whole foods she cooks for her family, protein pacing and supported fasting using Isagenix nutrition.

Its a Passion

With a nursing background, my experience as a mother and a love of cooking, I started this page to help my friends. I’m glad you found me and can now count me in your circle.

As a mother, a wife to a busy shift working husband and a career I basically lost myself in everyone else’s life. I want to make things a little easier for you by giving you tips and inspiration to look after yourself.

Three key areas to being a woman and a mother keep coming up
– Firstly, how do I keep my weight steady and decrease bloating.
– Secondly, I am so tired thinking of healthy things for dinner.
– Thirdly, I have no time to look after myself my life is run by family.

It is these three areas that Anavah will focus on and show you how to find control again over your future.

I am often asked where do I get my recipes? The honest truth is that it is usually a mixture of ideas in my head and the hundreds of pages I have kept from magazines over the years. I draw inspiration from my many recipe books. Jamie Oliver, Maggie Beer and Bill Granger books being the most splattered with food.

My all-time cook guru though, was my beautiful mother-in-law, Judy. I still have many of her handwritten recipes which I cherish and will share on occasion.
